OverviewCanada Scott Waters received his Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Victoria in 1997, and later went on to receive his Master of Fine Arts in 2004 from York University in Toronto. He has since taught art as an sessional faculty member at both York and the Ontario College of Art and Design (OCAD). Waters' recent and ongoing work draws on his period in the Canadian Army from 1989 to 1992. Serving as an infantryman in the Third Battalion of Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry, Bravo "B" Company, he was stationed in Wainwright, Alberta, and Victoria, British Columbia. In the fall of 2006, Cumulus Press published his Hero Book, a hybrid work, including drawings, paintings and writing, about his experiences in the Canadian Army. In its centenary Issue No 100, Border Crossings published a feature-length article written by Robert Enright (as recounted to Enright by Waters) on Waters' ideas about his Army paintings: Scott Waters, "Enclosed Encounters of a Military Kind: Reflections on Life in the Canadian Infantry." Waters' exhibition, Time Heals All Wounds (Negotiating a Lie, Pt. 2), takes place from March 6 to March 31, 2008 at Craig Scott Gallery. Further information on Scott Waters will shortly be posted.
